A Telugu film that should have been made before couple of decades would have got few accolades for Manmohan. There is nothing unique about this film as not even a single trait is worth praising about.

Well, Srikanth has improvised a lot with maturations in his performances while Prithviraj is quite impressive on his part. But how come the Malayalam actor could strain himself by picking a subtle role that in no way acts as a stepping ladder in his career.

‘Kutrappirivu’ is all about clash between good and evil in police department. A sincere cop Ravinder (Srikanth) has been into the service precisely to fulfill his father’s wish, a honest cop and yet paid with a bad price for it. Then Ravikanth (Prithviraj), who behaves so well at first and later, is shown to be involved in illegal acts of threatening big-shots for ransom.

What follows next is what you exactly might have looked out for? It’s just about Ravinder trying to reveal the true colors of Ravikanth to the police department.

A very poor Z-graded Andhra Masala film that in no way would either attract Telugu or Tamil audiences… Sorry to say! Manmohan could have avoided making such a tenuous script that is deliberately weak in all terms. Kamalini Mukherji has been wasted as she doesn’t get any scope to perform and the other heroine is moreover like a recently released asylum patient. Maybe, it’s hard to believe, but the blame is on director Manmohan, who could portray her in such a characterization with goof-like-costumes.

None of the songs are good and how come the makers Okayed the music after hearing it at the recording studio. It looks like few filmmakers get into the showbiz with just a dream to see their credits rolling over the title and no basic knowledge.

Srikanth has to get himself for a better act in romantic sequences as he looks like ‘Curd Rice’ in such shots. But as mentioned before, he’s extraordinary over the action oriented scenes and exhibiting the perfect mannerisms of a cop.

Cinematography is so poor and editing is rapid like an amateur learner handling it.

On the whole, ‘Kutrappirivu’ is a sickening experience and you can better avoid it.

In all likelihood, ‘Kattradhu Kalavu’ has some similarities in terms of plot with a completely different storyline.

The film is somewhat similar to Hindi movie ‘Bunty Aur Bubbly’ featuring Abhishek Bachchan and Rani Mukherji in lead roles.

The film is about Krishna, a talented youngster, coming up with an innovative concept called ‘STUDENTS BANK’. It is all for the cause of Student’s wellness and he proposes this project to a topmost Bank official (Santhana Bharathy). Rejecting this proposal, he suddenly shocks him by presenting the same concept and launching it with the help of politician (Late actor Haneefa).

Blown out of waters, Krishna is left despaired and starts working on conniving acts with a gal (Vijayalakshmi), whose dreams of becoming airhostess have been dashed down.

Sooner as he sets out to unravel a political conspiracy, he and the girl themselves are pitted with deadly situation as they have run for their lives. An officer from Intelligence Bureau (Choreographer Kalyan) is on the pursuit of them while another cop (Sampath) is looking out for them on his own ways.

Rest of the film is about a typical cat and mouse game set in backdrops of Rameshwaram.

Actor Krishna has improved a lot from his debut film as he seems to have cared a lot about performing well and looking well with his appearances. Actress Vijayalakshmi has to work a lot on advancing to next level as she doesn’t exhibit on self importance. Although, these actors slightly fail to capture your interests, the speedy screenplay with lots and twists and turns trivializes those aspects.

Director Balaji Devi Prasad has conceptualized a good story and direction is neat. Kudos to Kumaravel: for his surpassing screenplay, especially during second half. Musical score by Paul Jacob is average as most of the songs are so loud and there is no room for any melodies. Nirav Shah’s cinematography is pleasing as it brings some good visuals. The lengthy duration had been trimmed; the film would have been yet more finely exquisite.

‘Kattradhu Kalavu’ may take some more time to reach the audiences in down south as the other release ‘Singam’ has made it very bigger now.

Bottom - Line: Interestingly done at few parts

Now, the commercial filmmakers, who have been disappointing the fans of stealing their money through tickets, can learn a good lesson from K.R. Vishwa that films with no superstars and stunning technicians can ever work out for best results in box office.

Being the sister of atrocious person (Vijay Gopal), Nandini (Shristi) lives like chalk and cheese kind of relationship with her bro. He is one such cruel guy, who has hatred towards every caste and feels that his community is always superior. Especially, he is dead against a specific caste, from which Thyagu (Krishna Kumar) is actually in love with his sister.

Rest of the film is about an unexpected turn that keeps the film going on the lines you would have never anticipated.

The film opens with group of friends journeying in train for vacation and they get into interaction with a stranger (Prakash Raj).

How these parallel lines of story coalesce and the characters are interconnected with each other forms crux of the story.

Every character has complete importance in this film as the suspenseful factors are unraveled only during the point of climax. For sure, you will appreciate K.R. Vishwa for his extraordinary skill for sharp, elegant screenplay.

The newcomers have done their jobs with perfection and Prakash Raj is simply fantastic. Watch out for his climax performance as it will be the biggest of all surprises than the ones that were actually done by protagonist Krishna Kumar all throughout the film.

Few songs have come out well and so it the cinematography. Choreography in few songs is likely to be the best of this season. A.R. Rehana has done a good job and Thaman’s background score adds more value.

Meant to say that the film has some reasons to watch and we recommend you to watch ‘Kadhalagi’ for the creative conceptualization of K.R. Vishwa.

If it is a masala film, 100 cars should be smashed, hundreds of villains wearing white dhotis should rush, every 20 minutes the heroine and junior artist should dance in semi clad attires and at the end the hero should win over the villain. Finally the hero will sing the opening song and wave at the audience and send them home.

Director Hari has abruptly followed this formula and poured it hot on the heads of the audience.

The film opens with Durai Singam (Surya) leading a passable life in Nallore. His aspirations have always been taking up his father’s business of provision stores. But, he couldn’t keep away from his father’s (Radha Ravi) requests of becoming a cop. He never likes filing cases between the parties and sorts down the issue amicably. Business’s (Nasser) daughters Kavya (Anushka) and his sister Divya (Priya) make their way to this town for their vacations. Sooner Kavya falls in love with Singam and so is he. Shifting the story to Chennai, we are exposed to an insane goon Mayil Vaaganam (Prakash Raj), who runs kidnap racketing as a mainstream task. When he is ordered by the court to report everyday at Nallore police station, he plays his gimmicky takes by insisting his fellowmen to do so. Sooner, as Singam and Mayil strike out for a combat, he is transferred to Chennai, but Mayil recommends him personally to be posted at his branch so as to showcase his power.

What happens next is a series of unlimited chases across nook and corners of city with backlashes rendered by Singam.

Finally how the hero finishes the villain is the blood gushing climax. Surya is introduced in the film by breaking the jeep doors and top and speaks punch dialogues. There are lots of build up sequences. Surya’s haughty dialogues are sure to deafen the ears of audience. There is no connection between ‘Anbu Selvan’ Surya and this masala ‘Durai Singam’ Surya. The role does not fit Surya.

It seems most time was spent in adjusting the height of hero and heroine. The director and cameraman have avoided close up shots. This can blatantly seen in the film. Even in the romantic scenes the hero maintains a distance.

Villain Prakash Raj intro to the film is more powerful than the hero but lacks action. The cooling thing in this film is Anushka. After a long time the heroine is seen throughout in this action masala film. She has brought out the acting skills. Vivek comedy is unbearable.

Bose Venkat fulfills his role. Hari’s permanent actors like Nasar, Manorama and Vijayakumar are also in this film.

Priyan’s cinematography is Okay. Two songs composed by music composer Dev Sriprasad are worth hearing. But his back ground music is intolerable. V T Vijayan’s editing jumps then and there.

It seems that Hari has taken efforts to speed up the film in two hours and thirty five minutes. Hari has copied the scenes from his earlier films including locations and dialogues.

The greatest minus point is that the audience could guess every single move and comment.
